In the past, pagers were used both by individuals to relay short messages among each other. To wit, paging is the predecessor of short message service (SMS), otherwise known as texting. There is one key difference between paging and texting. Pagers need to stay within the transponder’s reach for messages to be relayed. Pagers used to be compatible with only one transponder in a given area. Mobile phones, on the other hand, receive and transmit calls and messages using different transponders called cell sites. Pagers are catching up with SMS technology. Pagers nowadays prove to be extremely efficient and reliable since they do not require the people to stay in close proximity with a single transponder to receive messages.

Restaurants at present are less difficult to operate than before thanks to paging systems. A customer simply needs to provide is his/her pager or mobile number. The customer can simply take a break in the waiting area or perhaps go for a walk. Once the table is ready, the restaurant forwards a message to the customer’s mobile.

Apart from being simple and efficient, the paging system also proves to boost income. If a restaurant has new dishes to offer, it can disseminate customized promo packages through its customers’ pagers or mobile phones. You may also invite them for upcoming events.

There are many pagers that do not require the clients to stay within the range of the paging system. Although this kind of restaurant paging system is relatively new, it is fast replacing the older versions of paging systems.

Those pagers usually come with a series of features, helping the customer and staff to get the best out of their paging systems. These include emergency overhead paging, all call paging, and security paging. These pagers provide seamless communication for multiple users. Messages can be relayed via telephony: voice messages are encoded into short text messages.

There is a quarterly or a yearly charge for the use of pagers. Usually, the cost of a pager depends on its model and the accessories that come with it. There are a myriad of pagers available in the market today. The best thing to do is to choose a paging system that has positive feedback from people in your industry.
