Buying a Promotion
One good way to get a promotion is to be sycophantic to your Boss. Most people don't know what sycophantic means, so they use the word suck-up. The point is that Bosses are humans, and often with huge faults, such as over-sized egos and arrogance, unwillingness to listen to others, or perhaps just poor personal hygiene. Remember that good gifts for men can always be a deodorant.
If you give your Boss gifts, it may be too obvious that you are simply trying to curry favour with them, so they won't believe it. They will suspect your motives. And, your colleagues may detest you.
Instead, it may be better to be more subtle. Casually invite your Boss out for a drink. When they talk, laugh at their jokes. It may sound simple, but people really do respond to others who laugh at their jokes. Everyone loves to feel funny. Laughter is actually proven to improve physical and mental health. Gifts for girls could be some comedy DVDs.
So is talking about oneself. When people talk about themselves, or the conversation is focused on them, their brain releases pleasuring hormones and chemicals. It may be that everyone is arrogant then - people really do believe that their problems or opinions can really be valued by other people. Maybe this is why some people buy Christmas presents for other people, that would be really better suited for them instead - they are so focused in their own world of what they like and what they want, that when they go shopping for other people, their brain still takes over and drives them to buy something that deep down they really want.
