The company was started over twenty years ago. All it took was a a touch of humor, a talented artist as well as Little Blue House gift store found in the lakeside town of North Hatley, Canada.
The proficient artist, Alice, had just finished a collection of farmyard animal paintings and desired to find somewhere to present her art. This lead to the opening of a gallery above her gift shop, the Little Blue House. Her husband John was motivated by her work and he created a variety of aprons showcasing Alice’s paintings. The thought paid off and these aprons proved to be extremely popular and sold really well.
Alice and John’s cottage trade quickly grew and evolved into the business Hatley. They specialized in producing the very best cow and pig aprons ever seen. These cows and pigs soon included moose and bears as well. In a similar fashion, the business of aprons grew steadily and shortly included gifts and clothing.
When the company grew and flourished, John and Alice found themselves longing for a simpler life. Aided by the likelihood of retirement looming, they decided to leave the business of running Hatley within the accomplished hands of their three boys Chris, Nick and Jeremy. As the eldest of the 3, Chris took over as President. Nick became the designer as he was the only one effective at drawing and in a bid to boss somebody around, Jeremy took over production.
Each bringing their very own ideas and inspiration to the company, Hatley soon grew and advanced further. They designed and added a large children’s range, designed comfortable women’s sleepwear and extended their gift market with the addition of napkins, kitchen textiles, mugs along with a whole lot more.
Hatley has developed into an international concern with their designs being sold of the world. Chris, Nick and Jeremy continue to honor the principles of their parents and remain dedicated to family, great designs, quality as well as a good sense of humor.
