Some people may think coal mining is a thing of the past. Contrary to what they believe, coal mining still proves to be a good investment though it has been around for centuries. It remains to be one of the top industries in many countries due to five reasons. First, coal is one of the primary sources of energy; thus, the demand for it never dies. Coal is generally used for electricity and as automobile fuel, among its other uses. Indeed, scientists have been coming up with alternative energy sources, but many people still turn to traditional and tested energy sources like coal. For example, some power plant operators still prefer to use coal to run their processes. Second, coal mining generates more income than other industries. Studies show that coal industries generate about eight billion US dollars yearly. This large income is possible since coal mining usually leads to selling abroad. The demand for coal is present in many countries; thus, if the competition is high in your country, you can tap overseas markets. Third, there are plenty of coal sites, so you have abundant raw materials. For example, Australia has at least one coal site in each state. You can easily manage the supply and demand if you are into coal mining. Fourth, many people are interested in it; therefore, finding miners would not be a problem. Studies show that the employment rate in coal mining is higher than other industries. Moreover, studies reveal that while other industries are losing their workers, coal mining and even the mining training Queensland has are experiencing no decline. Fifth, coal mining is safer now. This is possible thanks to technological improvements in the mining industry. Significant developments in mining training courses workers undergo also contributed substantially. Some machines can now be operated through computers, so coal gathering and processing may hardly expose workers to the material. Aside from being safer for workers, the industry is also friendlier to the environment. Current mining training courses include modules on proper land use, waste management, and water pollution prevention. This way, coal mining can also become a sustainable method of harvesting energy.
