Major Vacation Destinations: Central and South America
Newlyweds usually prefer to go somewhere new and fun. Some prefer a private resort where they can spend hours with only each other. Others like resort towns where they can explore the local community and get to know one another in the process. Some of the most popular honeymoon destinations are the Caribbean, Mexico, and Costa Rica. The following is a brief introduction to these places.
The Caribbean region is composed of the Caribbean Sea and the island groups therein. The Lucayan Archipelago consists of the Bahamas, which is a major tourist attraction thanks to its white sandy beaches. The next island group is the Greater Antilles, which includes Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. Jamaica boasts of introducing reggae to the world.
Like the Bahamas, the islands in the Greater Antilles have colorful cultures influenced by its African and Hispanic population. It is the same with the Lesser Antilles, which has Trinidad, Barbados, and Grenada among its political divisions. Barbados is responsible for producing another musical genre, Calypso.
Mexico is famous for its rich history and culture and also its superb landscapes. Cancún and Acapulco are cities frequently visited for their beautiful beaches. There are all inclusive vacations from Kansas City that accommodate travel plans to Playa del Carmen. Playa del Carmen has wonderful beaches as well as the distinction of being the last Mayan outpost before the coming of the Spanish colonizers.
Another famous Mexican resort city is Puerto Vallarta, which was a refuge bay for the Manila Galleon Trade and local seafarers. Today, it is a thriving tourist destination with guests that include famous American celebrities and “snowbirds,” people who spend winter in warmer regions. There are Kansas City travel agencies that accept reservations to this seaside paradise.
Costa Rica is equally famous for its beaches. Some tourists visit Costa Rica for its breathtaking trekking routes and its diverse flora and fauna. Tourists also enjoy surfing, rafting, and bungee jumping in Costa Rica. A Kansas City travel agent may also suggest visiting Costa Rica’s many volcanoes. There are more than a hundred volcanoes in Costa Rica and five of them are active.
