Sites to Visit in Nepal and Tibet
Nepal and Tibet are two remote areas in Asia that offer wonderful sights and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Nepal offers amazing journeys to the heart of the Himalayas, while visiting Tibet allows one to experience the culture of the Han and Hui people. Nepal trekking is something most visitors to the country do during their stay. There are three major treks usually done in Nepal. Meanwhile, on the Jomsom trek, visitors make their way to different ethnic villages and monasteries, which makes for a culturally enriching trek.
A Tibet tour, meanwhile, consists of visiting amazing sites in the capital, Lhasa. The Potala Palace is the highlight of such a tour. It was constructed in the 7th century and contains a staggering 1,000 rooms and 200,000 statues. Other sites like the Drepung Monastery and Jokhang Temple are also notable landmarks in Lhasa.
Tibet tours won’t be complete without going out of the capital and experiencing the natural wonders of the countryside. Traveling to the Qiangtang Plains, one can discover a beautiful yet desolate place where majestic snow-clad mountains serve as a gorgeous backdrop to the barren plains. Namtso Lake, the highest saltwater lake in the world, is also a beautiful place to visit. The reflections of the snowcapped peaks in the clear water make for a truly unforgettable sight.
