Bacteria—both the good and the harmful—are composed of single-celled organisms that can both multiply and divide rapidly. Thus, they can be found almost everywhere. The problem is that they are too small to be visible to the naked eye—microscopic, in fact. One cannot avoid getting his hands on these microorganisms, more so, identifying right away which bacteria are helpful or harmful to health.
Ironically, spreading them is an easier mission. Through the process called binary fission, bacteria can reproduce up to three generations every hour. At first, their growth is slow as they try to acclimatize to the environment they are in; but once they have completely adapted, bacteria grows rapidly. Transferring them is quite simple, too—by coughing, sneezing, or unwittingly touching objects that have been exposed to them.
Even inside one’s own household, a person is not totally safe from bacteria. House cleaning and disinfection from time to time can help, but only up to a certain extent. How worse is to be expected from public places and items that are always exposed to bacteria?
Everyone is susceptible to bacteria by simply getting their hands on door knobs, faucets, vehicle seats, tickets, elevator buttons, coins and bills, or even by just shaking another person’s hand. One might not even realize that grabbing the hand railings of public stairs and the balustrade inside trains does not offer much protection, unless he is holding on to bronze bar railings.
Bronze bar has almost the same composition as that of brass. Both are metal alloys that have the decorative appearance and outstanding functionality. However, brass is more popular in terms of plumbing or tubing. Bronze, on the other hand, are mostly used for musical instruments and in building ships because it is resistant to salt water corrosion.
The said property also proves to be helpful in preventing bacteria build up because bronze can resist corrosive solutions that destroy harmful microorganisms. Hence, bronze bars are recommended for building public railings and other exposed items, such as knobs and faucets. Since brass and bronze have comparable compositions, most brass tubing suppliers also manufacture bronze bars.
