Type of Cosmetic Procedure: Botox Injections
A lot of people would find ways just to keep their looks youthful and radiant. However, beauty products may not be enough to fight the natural aging process of the skin. For that reason, cosmetic surgeons introduced a new way to reduce various signs of aging and keep one’s look youthful.
One known procedure is Botulinum toxin, or more commonly known as Botox injections. Although Botox has several other medical uses, it is commonly administered in cosmetic surgeries. The use of Botox for cosmetics was first introduced in early 2000 and was formally approved on April 12, 2002 by the Food and Drug Association (FDA).
Botox injections are used as an anti-aging treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines and wrinkles. Unlike other anti-aging procedures, Botox does not prevent wrinkles from forming. The area in which the Botox is injected would become plumped which makes the lines and wrinkles invisible to the eye.
Botox injections are protein made from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, which is considered a powerful neurotoxin. It could be dangerous to inject the substance in wrong doses and without proper supervision. However, miniscule doses and proper application of a Florida Botox specialist would result to a wrinkle-free and smooth skin.
In Florida Botox patients are usually between the ages of 18 to 65. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are not allowed to take Botox injections since they may harmful effects to their child. On another note, Botox used for non-cosmetic procedures are ideal for patients suffering from spasms and tremors.
Unlike a Florida facial plastic surgery, Botox injections provide faster results and easier administration. No recovery period is needed so the patient can assume normal activities immediately after the injection. According to the FDA, Botox injection is a safe cosmetic treatment that has minimal side effects. In some cases, however, the patient may experience muscle paralysis around the injected area which would eventually wear off. The Botox would be effective for four months, but may depend on the dosage applied. It can be re-injected three months after the effects of the previous dosage have worn off.
