Heated water is a necessity nowadays, not only at home, but for industrial and commercial applications as well. Hot water is particularly important in cold climates, where it can mean the difference between comfort and hypothermia. It is also essential for many industries, since they are the foundation for manufacturing certain types of products.

Water heaters are machines used to provide hot water. There are many different sizes, ranging from small household units, to large industrial machines that can heat thousands of gallons of water. Although, they have different methods on how to go about in heating water, these machines do a good job at the tasks they were designed to accomplish.

The most common type of heaters used would be the tankless heater. These are normally used for households, and are popular as a heat source for showers. Tankless heaters are advantageous for households because they provide a constant flow of hot water and save energy too, since they are not constantly heating an entire tank.

A direct contact water heater, is useful for industrial and commercial applications. They work by forcing water through a set of rings, which is then sprayed with hot gases to heat the water. This provides a continuous flow of hot water all the time, which is essential for industrial uses. Choices for fueling the heaters include natural gas or propane, which are efficient and safe fuels for burners.

Direct contact water heaters are often used in many industries since they are large, and can provide hot water in an instant. They use heaters for mixing concrete, car washes, hotels, restaurants, and pharmaceutical industries, to name a few. The disadvantage is that they need a tank which constant heating, resulting in higher energy expenses.

Meanwhile, a direct fire water heater is great for small businesses and big households. It works by having its own tank, which is heated by its own oil burner. A benefit this type of heater brings is that users will never run out of hot water. However, it also means that higher energy costs will be induced because of the separate boiler.
