A majority of car owners use products with harmful contaminants when washing their car. These products may contain harmful detergents, abrasives, and additives that could wreak long term havoc on the exterior of their vehicles. Proper washing and waxing techniques can help create a beautiful finish and help reduce scratching of your vehicle’s paint. Keeping your car exterior well maintained is good not only for aesthetic purposes.

Weekly car washing is ideal for your car because contaminants quickly do damage to the car paint if allowed to remain. Two such examples are bug remains and bird droppings. They contain complex proteins and organic acids that bond to the surface of your car and penetrate and break down the surface, eating away at the car coating if not removed immediately.

Car owners should only use concentrated car cleaners with two or so buckets of water to clean the entire car. Motorists should NEVER use dishwashing liquid or similar detergents. These products contain harsh chemicals designed to strip grease from surfaces that will only damage the wax finish of your car. For best results, specially-formulated car washes should be used when cleaning your car. These cleaning agents gently lift dirt, dust, and grime while protecting your car finish.

After wetting the entire car, use a sponge and start cleaning the roof. Don’t use old rags. These usually leave very light scratches on your car. A long armed, soft bristled wash brush should be used instead. This is not only gentle for your Yuba City Nissan, but it will also reduce the time it takes to clean your car. Wash your car from the top and work your way down so that dirty water won’t get into the panels you’ve just cleaned.

It is a good idea to follow washing with the application of a polish/cleaner. This will remove minor imperfections and scratches, and provide a good surface for the car wax. When waxing your Yuba City Nissan, remove it from direct sunlight and allow it to cool. Wet the wax applicator and put the wax on it. Frame out the area where you want to apply the product.

Most people put too much polish when they wax their Yuba City Nissan, resulting in a haze effect on the vehicle. This haze effect is more noticeable on dark-colored vehicles than lighter ones. Apply only a small amount on the applicator pad and use a foam, wool, or microfiber applicator.
