In 1869, Bridget Driscoll stepped out of the curb on Crystal Palace grounds and into history. That day on August 17, she became the first person in the UK to die of a fatal car accident.

After that first incident in 1869, deaths due to car accidents increased by about 4,000 every day around the globe. Every country has its respective car death statistics, with urban zones having higher death tolls compared to the rural areas. Take, for example, the countries listed below.

Germany

Germany is a big country with around 82 million people. Statistics show that there are about 336,000 mishaps annually, causing injuries and damages to 34,000 people. Further, Germany incurs approximately 65 deaths for every million people, amounting to around 5400 fatality yearly.

France

France has relatively fewer people compared to Germany, yet the accident ratio is higher at 87.9 deaths occurring out of every one million. A lot of motor accidents happen on high-speed highways and streets. Some accidents are attributed to unpredictable, indiscriminate and irresponsible driving behavior. Barrie cars authorities share that in France, a demise is considered a fatality when the person dies within 30 days of being in an accident.

New Zealand

This country ranked 123 in the most populated countries in the world, with only 4.5 million people inhabiting its shores. However, automotive specialists at Barrie car dealerships say that a lower population does not guarantee fewer car accidents. Though it has considerably safer and more secure roads with other countries, New Zealand still sees 400 deaths annually, with about 9 people dying for every 100,000 citizens. Statistics show that drunk-driver related accidents account for 25% of the total mishaps in this country.

Italy

Italy is the world's 23rd largest country in terms of population. It registers approximately 61 million residents as of December 2010. Compared to others, Italy registers 98 deaths out of every one million individuals. Italians take pride in their cars as much as they do their world-famous cuisine. Barrie used car dealers say that some people are likely to go over the speed limit when driving their ultra-sophisticated and speed-hungry luxury cars.
