Used car buyers are often advised to bring an independent mechanic to dealer facilities. Such is necessary since not all buyers are knowledgeable about conducting a complete inspection. However, do not worry if you cannot bring a mechanic; you can still perform a good inspection by following these steps.

First, see to it that the car you want to purchase is parked in a flat and well-lit area. This helps in checking the quality of the struts and shocks, as well as the paint. To check the struts and shocks, push trunk and back compartment down with both hands. Make sure the car only rebounds once or twice after the force. To check the paint, observe the car five feet away to see if there is any discoloration. And, feel the paint to identify blisters, scratches or peeling.

Second, open and close the trunk, hood and doors at least five times. See to it that these parts can smoothly be operated. Moreover, look at its hinges and rubber piping; make sure both are tightly positioned.

Third, conduct a lights checkup at night, since only a dark environment can reveal bulb flaws. Make sure that you test all the lights: fog, brake, front rear, license plate and backup. Notify your dealer if the intensity of the light is insufficient.

Fourth, look at the tires: Make sure all, including the spare, have the same brand. Additionally, see to it that the rims and not rusted or dented. Demand for a new set from your used cars in Niagara Falls Ontario dealer if the tires are already too worn.

Fifth, perform the basics of driving when testing any of the used cars in St. Catharines. Doing this allows you observe how the engine runs and its receptivity. Keep all your senses open when doing the test drive. Make sure that you hear no screeching or smell no musty odors.

Finally, check the quality of the different liquids: transmission, power steering, brake and oil. Make sure that these have the proper colors and do not have the rotten smell. Furthermore, look at the surface underneath the used cars in St. Catharines you are eyeing. See to it that there are no drips since this indicates engine problems.
