A Quick Tour of the Different Departments at Dealerships
Most people think that dealerships are only composed of showrooms and parking lots, mainly because these are the parts that are readily seen from the outside. However, a typical dealership is not only composed of wide showrooms. Have a quick tour at the other parts of a dealership such as sales, finance and insurance, service, body shop, and administrative departments.
Sales department
This department is usually divided into two, namely: used car and new car sales departments. These two sales departments can be managed by two separate managers or just one, depending on the size of the dealership. Overseeing this department are sales managers who are responsible for ordering new cars and facilitating trade-ins. They make sure that no cars are left unsold for more than two months.
Finance and insurance department
Customers who have decided to buy cars are directed to the finance and insurance or F & I department, which will accept their payments. It is in this department that the dealership makes the most out of the sale by offering financing options and extras such as car loans and extended warranty. F & I staffs are specially trained to track interest rates and persuade customers with different credit scores to consider dealership financing.
Service department
This is where cars go through before entering or leaving the showroom. Add-ons ordered by customers are usually installed by service staff. Most Barrie used car dealerships have their own service bay where customers can bring in their used cars if there are any problems after purchase.
Body shop
At most car dealers Barrie customers will find an auto body shop as part of the service department. Body shops can be very expensive to maintain and require the dealership owners and staff to be knowledgeable in auto body repairs and customization. Some dealers in Barrie have chosen to maintain a common body shop with other nearby dealerships or at a separate rented lot.
Administrative department
This department holds all the other departments together. Administrative staff are responsible for tracking the status of dealership employees such as Barrie used cars sales managers, salespersons, technicians, and others. Administration departments play a significant role in keeping all other departments working by handling the cash flow and staff requirements.
